Addresses farmers’ Lahore sit-in, accuses govt
of not resolving growers’ problems

LAHORE: PTI central leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said Kissan Package announced by the PML-N government is nothing but a fraud with the farmers.

Addressing the farmers, growers and agriculturists, who staged a sit-in under the banner of Kissan Ittehad Pakistan on the Mall for their demands, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the growers would have never taken to the street if the government had fulfilled its commitment made in the Kissan Package. He said the government was treating the farmers in a cruel manner and it must realise that once they woke up, the slogans of Go Nawaz Go would be heard from every nook and corner of the country. He said due to wrong polices of the present government, the farmers were out on roads, adding the rulers were not addressing the grievances of this community.

He said PTI was well aware of the growers’ problems and he was here to represent his leader Imran Khan.He said the PTI would continue to plead the case of farmers at every forum and complete support to their demands. The PTI leader alleged nowhere in the world, growers were treated in the way the PML-N government was treating them here. He said neither they were receiving Bardana nor proper price of their commodity. He stated the demands of subsidy and relief were totally justified and the government must fulfill them on immediate basis.

Moreover, PTI senior leader and former governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar visited the sit-in of the farmers to express support to them.Speaking on the occasion, he said the PML-N must keep it in mind that the farmers will not take their land to London, USA or get money against it to deposit in foreign banks.

He demanded that the farmers’ problems should immediately be resolved and fake cases registered against them should be taken back. Ch Sarwar said the rulers needed to revisit their “wrong” priorities and the hefty amount of over Rs200 billion spent on the orange train could have solved the farmers’ issues. He regretted that the PML-N government had no mission to help and protect farmers and poor people.

Ch Sarwar said the PTI fully supports farmers’ demands and will participate in their protests across the country. He said that PML-N’s policies were dangerous for the farmers and the nation.

Ch Sarwar said farmers were being compelled to commit suicide, whilst the rulers were busy engaging in trade with India which in turn promotes the Indian farmers. For this reason, he demanded that the government should focus on solving Pakistani farmers’ issues. He regretted that the PML-N government was launching and implementing projects to gain political mileage instead of welfare of public at large. Kissan Ittehad Pakistan president Khalid Khokhar, Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed and a large number of farmers were present.
