Rs33b funds from China for metro train a milestone, says Shahbaz

Says train a revolutionary project; those opposing it unaware of transport problems of people

LAHORE

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said provision of funds of 33 billion rupees by China for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train project is an important milestone and despite speculations and propaganda, China has proved its friendship with Pakistan and written a new history. 

He said Lahore Orange Line Metro Train is a revolutionary project for providing modern transport facilities of international standard to citizens.

He said only a handful of elite are opposing this project because they travel by planes and luxurious cars and are unaware of the transport problems of the common man. 

He was talking to MPAs who met him at Chief Minister’s Office on Monday. The CM said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Muslim League-N government has introduced the culture of transparency, standard and speed in the projects. He said federal and Punjab governments have set a splendid example by saving 215 billion rupees of the poor nation which is unprecedented in history.

He said China is a very sincere and reliable friend of Pakistan and supported it in every time of need. He said cooperation of China in development projects is commendable and Chinese assistance has enabled Pakistan join the ranks of developed countries.

The CM said that the elements criticising metro train project are in fact enemies of welfare and betterment of the common citizens. However, he said, without paying attention to criticism of these few persons who are opposed to development of the country, PML-N government will complete public welfare projects expeditiously.

He said those criticising welfare projects are not sincere to the masses and the elements involved in politics of protests are once again bent upon wasting the precious time of the nation.

He said Orange Line Metro Train project is aimed at resolving transport problem of the common man as the masses have a right over modern, speedy, comfortable and economical facilities of travel. He said work is continuing round the clock on metro train project and its completion will bring an improvement in living standard of the common people.

He said the project will bring a revolution in transport sector and will be a masterpiece of transparency, standard and architecture.

Those who met the CM included MPAs Manan Khan, Muhammad Shahwaiz Khan, Ch Lal Hussain, Muhammad Zeshan Gurmani, Mian Alamdar Abbas Qureshi, Muhammad Imran Qureshi, Syed Qutab Ali Shah and Khalid Ghani Ch. Mansha Ullah Butt, MPA, was also present.
