MINGORA: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday said that Nawaz Sharif had not completed his tenures earlier nor would he do so this time.

He would be put behind bars if the PTI comes into power, the PTI chief warned. He said that no one could save Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from accountability. He said his party was a part of the joint opposition on the PanamaLeaks issue but it could part ways with it to intensify the movement in case a need arose.

Speaking at a public meeting at the Grassy Ground in Mingora in Swat district, he said the country’s loans would be repaid if the money was brought to Pakistan from foreign accounts.Imran Khan visited Swat and spoke at the public meeting a few days after the visit of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who inaugurated a few projects and criticised the PTI chief for his politics.

In his speech, Imran Khan claimed that Pakistanis had stashed $200 billion in foreign banks and this money, if transferred to Pakistan, could positively change the future of the country. He maintained that he would not refer to Nawaz Sharif as corrupt but would put him behind bars if the PTI won the next elections and formed the government in the Centre. “If we are corrupt, the government should arrest us,” he declared.

He said that Nawaz Sharif was holding rallies in the company of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur they could not protect him from the coming storm.

"The prime minister has realised the importance of launching development projects in the country after the PanamaLeaks scandal," the PTI chief said. "Nawaz Sharif started inaugurating roads and airports after the masses questioned his legality as prime minister," he added.

He said that Nawaz Sharif was unaware that nations could not make progress through the construction of roads and motorways. He argued that providing education opportunities to its youth is the way to be adopted to achieve real progress.

He opined that real change could be brought about when people at the grassroots level would take decisions about their future. "Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has been in power for the last 30 years in Punjab but it cannot show a single strong institution that its government has established," he added.

"PanamaLeaks is a turning point in the history of Pakistan and we would not let anyone escape without accountability," he vowed. Imran Khan said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had asked questions from the opposition instead of answering the queries posed by it.

Commenting on the effects of climate change, he said that Pakistan was among the most affected countries due to this process. "If we cannot stop deforestation, our glaciers would melt down and rivers would become dry," he warned.

Imran Khan said that he was making three demands from Nawaz Sharif. Listing the demands, he said the federal government should give Khyber Pakhtunkhwa its share in the water resources and also in the gas produced in the province. Besides, he demanded an end to loadshedding in the province. KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak also addressed the rally.
