Islamabad: Comsats Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Islamabad, organised an art exhibition, showcasing paintings and greeting cards created by students of SOS Village Islamabad, during a workshop on painting arranged for them, says a press release.
CIIT is undertaking this community service for directly impacting the lives of children, who need a lot of support and care; while exposing them to the university environment. Another objective is to educate CIIT's Architecture & Design students to become socially responsible citizens, by participating in such events.
The exhibition consisting of 54 fabulous paintings and over 150 greeting cards, was inaugurated by Salman Farooqi, the Federal Ombudsman, Rector CIIT Dr. S. M. Junaid Zaidi, and Director SOS Village Islamabad Ms. Shama Khan also attended the event. The exhibition will remain open till Wednesday (18 May).
The basic idea behind the whole effort is to sell the artwork of the children and donate the money collected to the SOS Village, while encouraging the students to gain confidence and develop their creative abilities, talked about the impact the workshop and the art exhibition had on the children and thanked CIIT for organising it.
