Rawalpindi: Preparation of university assignments against a fixed amount has become a business for many who are carrying out this illegal activity quite openly mainly at the book centres and educational academies in the city.

“The hand-written assignment costs dearly as the students have to pay some extra amount for it otherwise rate for those assignments who are prepared through material downloaded from the internet and is printed on paper are comparatively low,” said Muzaffar Ahmad, a student of a private university.

He said some booksellers have placed placards reading “All types of college and university assignments are prepared here at low prices,” adding “This is happening everywhere in the city but no one is raising voice against it.”

Nadeem Chaudhry, a lecturer at a public sector university in Rawalpindi, said they have introduced software to identify plagiarism in the assignments so it is not easy for the students to get them prepared on commercial basis.

“Those who prepare assignments for money often use old material due to which it is identified through computer software. But still there is a need to curb this illegal practice to raise the standard of education in the country,” he said.
