UVAS signs MoU on milk adulteration survey

University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly conduct a milk adulteration survey.

According to a press release Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and Assad Abbas signed the MoU while Higher Education Commission (HEC) Executive Director Prof Dr Arshad Ali was also present. Speaking on the occasion, the VC said milk adulteration survey would be a step towards ensuring supply of quality pure milk to consumers.

He said under the MoU, the university through its Centre for Applied Policy and Research in Livestock (CAPRIL) would depute its research students/scholars and provide adulterant kits and refills, pipettes, test tubes, test tube stands and tongs for the survey. Meanwhile Dr Muhammad Sarwar Siddique, a UVAS lecturer has achieved the PhD degree in Islamic Studies from the Minhaj University under the supervision of Prof Dr Muhammad Sultan Shah. The title of his research thesis was “Animal rights in Islam”.

LDA: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Nabeel Javed has directed officials concerned to strictly adhere to the  deadlines given on different types of applications, received at the One-Window Cell of LDA, and to refrain from disposing of these applications by putting unnecessary objections and submitting irrelevant answers to avoid inconvenience to the applicants. The DG passed these directions during inspection of the One-Window Cell of LDA on Saturday.  He warned of stern disciplinary action against the officials causing delays in the disposal of public applications by using different tactics. He directed the officials to completely eliminate the involvement of irrelevant elements in the official matters.

He also listened to applicants' problems and issued on-the-spot directions for immediate redress of their grievances. He said that he would monitor the performance of the One-Window Cell to ensure the issuance of NOCs for the sale of properties, approval of building plans and timely settlement of other property related issues of the people.
