GHALLANAI: Around 500 state-run schools in Mohmand Agency remained closed for the last two weeks due to the teachers’ strike for their upgradation.
Talking to reporters on Wednesday, president of the Malgari Ustazan Mujahid Khan said the government had announced upgrading the pay-scale of teachers four years back. He said the authorities had time and again assured the teachers that the issue of their upgradation would be resolved but no action had been taken so far. He said around 2000 teachers had refused to perform duties until notification of their uprgradation was issued.
“The the government should issue notification of the teachers’ upgradation as studies of around 70,000 students in Mohmand Agency are affected,” he said, adding depriving teachers of their rights was injustice and regrettable.
