The Panama leaks have exposed many things, but none more alarming than the lust for power of all political players in the country. Nawaz Sharif is understandably on the defensive, eager to turn the tide set against him via aggressive political marketing and campaigning. But Imran Khan’s ultimate ambitions are quite unnerving. His longing and greed for power and glory has made him blind towards some of those standing next to him, ‘shining’ examples of the sort of corruption and financial muddiness he is accusing Nawaz of.
Imran has made it crystal clear that his politics is based on claiming the iron throne for himself at Nawaz’s expense. It was never about the system or principles, and in his world a one-man show led by himself is the solution to all our problems. Thus seemingly Pakistani politics is damned to remain in the hands of the filthy and the rich; and they will continue to do what they must to make politics possible.
