ISLAMABAD: Lauding the services of Dewan Bahadur SP Singha for the creation of Pakistan, President Mamnoon Hussain has said that dynamic nations always remember and are grateful to personalities who serve their country, adding that Pakistani nation is not behind anyone in this regard.

The president was speaking to a gathering of the Christian community and Pakistanis at the Awan-e-Sadr on the occasion of the issuing a commemorative postage stamp to acknowledge the services of Dewan SP Singha. He said that before the independence, Dewan Bahadur SP Singha rendered unforgettable services for the establishment of Pakistan in his position as a member and speaker of the Punjab Assembly for which the nation was thankful to him. He said the commemorative postage stamp being issued in recognition of his services was a proof that the Pakistani nation always lauded its heroes whether they belong to the majority or minority communities. "Be it the movement for the creation of Pakistan or the phase of its building, minority communities, in particular the Christian community, have played a stellar role in close collaboration with the whole nation," the president added.

The president said after the creation of Pakistan, the scope of services by the Christian community was further widened and our brethren have rendered extraordinary services not only in the fields of education and health but also in the important area of defence. It shows that all communities of the country work hand in hand to serve Pakistan, he added.

The president said we are proud of the fact that all citizens were equal in the eyes of the state as was stated by the Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in his speech delivered on August 11 wherein all citizens of Pakistan were assured of equal rights without discrimination of colour, race, religion and belief.
