BU celebrates World Book and Copyright Day

World Book and Copyright Day is celebrated around the world with the aim to inculcate, enhance and promote reading cultures among the society. This day was designated by the Unesco as a world celebration of books and reading, and celebrated in over 100 countries all over the world.

To celebrate the World Book & Copyright Day and to promote reading tendency, awareness and importance of reading among students, faculty members Bahria University Islamabad Campus organised different activities and events for the students, faculty member and staff.

A reading walk was also organised by the Bahria University Islamabad Campus Library at Islamabad Campus. Reading walk started at 10:30 a.m. from main campus gate Bahria University Islamabad and ended at Sir Syed Block. The walk was led by the Rector Bahria University Vice Admiral (r) Tanveer Faiz HI (M) (r) along with pro-rector, registrar, director Islamabad Campus, deans, HODs, faculty members, chief librarian, librarian, library staff and a large number of students.

The participants of the walk were carrying colourful banners and placards on which different quotations were written about the importance of books and reading. Despite the hot weather a large number of faculty members, students and administrative staff participated with the aim of promoting books reading and its importance in society.

A bookfair was also organised to inculcate reading habit among the students and faculty members. Renowned booksellers placed their stalls at the university by displaying quality and informative books on different topics with discount. The participant of the walk showed keen interest and purchased different books relevant to their reading interest.
