LAHORE

Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has decided to recover monthly payments from the school partners where fake students are identified.

PEF Managing Director Tariq Mahmood while presiding over weekly coordination meeting of programme directors on Wednesday said these schools would also be fined according to their respective programme’s SOPs. “The purpose is to ensure consummate transparency and efficiency so that only the genuinely deserving students could benefit from the free education programmes of the Foundation”, he added.

Tariq Mahmood said school partners should ensure that pictures of all the students were uploaded in student information system of the Foundation, adding that students papers without pictures would be considered fake after a month.

Similarly, partner schools should also upload latest pictures of their students after every two years.

He said PEF had zero-tolerance policy towards fake students and therefore, partners should ensure that their data was correct and updated regularly to meet organisational standards.

The meeting decided to get support from Nadra for counter-checking of students’ record in its computerised server.

The meeting was also told that PEF would start its books distribution drive in Lahore from Thursday (today).

During this three-day activity, around 300,000 books would be distributed in 358 partner schools of the provincial metropolis. For this purpose, books distribution point has been set up in the Gulberg area.

The meeting expressed its satisfaction over the fact that PEF students have produced best results in recently held PEC exams. MD PEF said all partner schools should also ensure that the government instructions with regard to schools security and adopting anti-dengue measures should be implemented in letter and spirit.
