Z A Nizami Block inaugurated at SSUET

The chancellor of the Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), Jawaid Anwar, on Tuesday inaugurated the Z A Nizami Block at the university campus.

Talking about the former chancellor of the university, Anwar said Zilley Ahmed Nizami was a man of his words who used to take decisions on merit and always owned his commitments.

SSUET Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Syed Jawaid H Rizvi, Registrar Syed Sarfraz Ali, Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA) Vice President Syed Anwar Ali, AMUOBA General Secretary Muhammad Arshad Khan, Mazhar Aslam Zuberi, Farrukh Nizami, Tariq Nizami, Furqan Nizami and others were also present at the inaugural ceremony.

The SSUET chancellor said the AMUOBA was actively participating in the promotion of scientific education.

“Education makes society grow and bring a positive change in the country. The university was established by the AMUOBA to promote and transfer scientific knowledge and it was the first engineering university in the private sector.

“To enhance the quality of research and to develop a research-friendly environment at the campus, the Office of the Research, Innovation and Commercialisation has been formed to hunt for new ideas.”

The chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi, Anwar Zai, said the former SSUET chancellor was a good town planner, who had played a key role in building the city structure according to modern demands.

“He [Nizami] also participated in the expansion of Holy Makkah and Madinah city.”

Renowned scholar Professor Dr Waqar Ahmed Rizvi said Nizami was also credited for initiating 45 schemes to develop Karachi.
