Islamabad
A government campaign to increase the primary school enrolments across the country by 20 per cent in the current year will begin today (Friday).
The campaign, which will continue until April 30, is part of the plans to ensure 100 per cent enrolment in the countrywide schools by 2018 in line with the Vision-2025 strategy.
It, according to a relevant official, will be overseen by the Ministry of Planning and Development and Reforms and executed by the provincial governments in their respective regions.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the chief ministers will lead the campaign to give it the broader national ownership, while academia, civil society, politicians, media and local communities will help make it a success.
The project management units will be established at the federal and provincial levels to monitor the campaign.
The official said 100 per cent primary school enrolment was the first phase and upon its completion, the target of 100 per cent enrolment in second school and higher education would be set up.
He said the federal government would perform a supportive and coordinated role to create national impact of the campaign for which the Higher Education Commission had be engaged to motivate the university students to act volunteers.
