Bahria Youth Technothon continues to engage students with fun activities

The heavy rain pour could not dampen the spirits of students who actively participated in the ongoing mega event Bahria Youth Technothon (BYTE) 2016, organised by Bahria University, filled with many competitions ranging from fields of arts to engineering.

Theme based events include many festive fun and amusing challenges and competitions. The university aims to provide a platform to students so that they can prove their mantle in various activities in the ongoing three days event.

The dignitaries who attended Saturday’s event were Saleem M. Rafique, DG Nadra Technology, Zeeshan Sarwar, CEO Informist Services, Engineer M Azeem, CEO Jolta Technologies, Engineer Miraj Gul, DG Technical National Telecom Headquarters, Babar Zahoor, pioneer founder of Open Source Foundation of Pakistan and other members of National ICT & R&D and Pakistan Software Board. The winning students can get up to Rs50,000 funding for their project.

Assistant Professor Suleman Awan of Computer Engineering Department Mentor of Management Marketing and Social Events while speaking to this scribe said that we invited almost 100 universities all over Pakistan and more than 2000 students from 75 universities are participating in our mega event BYTE 2016 to show not only their technical skills but also participate in social events. It’s a very big platform to showcase their skills in front of a huge audience. We have categorized the events in five categories namely social events, theme based events, technical events, sports events and open challenge events.

The main event of Saturday was the display of last year projects of Bahria students as well as from other universities, that were witnessed by many experts from industry. National ICT R & D Fund extends funding to selected final year projects of undergraduate students enrolled in ICT disciplines such as computer science information technology, electrical, electronics, telecom, computer and software engineering with a view to promote an research and development culture at the grass root level. National Grassroot ICT Research Initiative is making tremendous progress. It is committed to promote an innovative centric ICT research and development ecosystem in congruence with the socio-economic landscape of Pakistan.

The engineering events include project exhibition, micro-controller interfacing, robotics, innovative mobile apps, programming freak, speed wiring, mathletics and logic madness. Sports competitions because of the overwhelming response had to be started from Monday, includes Volleyball, Badminton, Basketball, Table Tennis and Futsal. The theme based events included Creative photography, Raudad-e-Sukhan, declamation, Creative artist and e-Gaming. The open Challenge events include Brain teaser, Scavenger Hunt, Dubsmash, X-factor, Minute to Win. Social events include spring festival a concert including Jal band, Rap Engineers and DJ AXS.
