Here comes good news for the residents of Islamabad’s disadvantaged suburban areas as the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) has planned the establishment of five new educational institutions there.

However, the plan’s execution is linked to allocation of funds in the next fiscal.

According to a relevant CADD official, the proposed schools and colleges will be established in Islamabad’s suburbs to provide local residents with free education and thus, bringing them on a par with those living in the capital’s developed areas.  The project’s cost is estimated at over one billion rupees.

Under the plan, the Federal Government Middle School for Girls will be established in Khanna Dak area at the cost of Rs52.5 million, the Federal Government Degree College for Men in Pakistan Town at the cost of Rs166 million, the Federal Government Degree College for Men in Margallah Town at the cost of Rs252 million, the Federal Government Degree College for Women in G-13 at the cost of Rs465 million, and upgradation of the Federal Government School for Girls in Phulgaran to a college at the cost of Rs112 million.  The CADD regulates the Islamabad government schools and colleges through the Federal Directorate of Education.

Also in the next financial year, the CADD has some plans for the welfare of the children with disability, said the official.

According to him, the Rehabilitation Centre for Orthopaedically Disabled in G-8/4 and National Special Education Centre for Mentally Retarded Children in H-8/4 will get Rs 77.2 million in the next federal Public Sector Development Programme if the things go as planned.
