Laugh it off

Talking movies: Bollywood versus Hollywood

Two new movies are set to hit the screens this weekend. First on our list is Independence Day Resurgence, starring Jeff Goldblum, Liam Hemsworth, Bill Pullman, and is the sequel to Independence Day which came out in 1996 and starred Will Smith. The next chapter delivers a global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet.

The other film on the watch list is Bollywood’s Raman Raghav starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, best known for his versatile acting in movies like The Mountain Man, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Badlapur etc. Raman Raghav follows the life of a serial killer Ramanna who is inspired by an infamous serial killer from the ‘60s. His weird obsession with a young cop keeps growing as he closely follows him without his knowledge and often creates situations where both of them come face to face. Fans can catch the shows in cinemas to see Siddiqui in excellent and terrifying form.

Rano’s Heirlooms Eid collection

One of our favourite Lahori designers, Rano Usman’s Eid collection will be available in store from Monday, 27th onwards. Usman, a revivalist at heart, uses indigenous materials and craft to create stunning ensembles that are opulent but comfortable. Her ethos is eclectic but folksy and we’re quite excited to see what the designer has up her sleeve for the festive occasion. The Eid collection will be stocked at the Rano’s Heirloom’s flagship boutique in Mall 94.

Elan Eid collection and Trunk Show

The Elan team is having a busy weekend. The fun kicks off on Friday, 24th in Lahore at their Gulberg Galleria store from 1 p.m. onwards where their Eid collection goes on display. Titled Le Jardin Exotique, the collection teasers feature Elan’s usual luxe aesthetic paired with its signature pale hues. It strikes a balance between cut and embellishment, creating fusion wear that caters to the glamorous minded for Eid. Also exhibiting at their store along with their latest collection are jewels from across the border by Valliyan. The jewellery will be available at the store for retail and viewing from 3 p.m. onwards.

Elan then takes the port city by storm, bringing the bridal collection, The Jasmine Court for a viewing. Showcasing their bespoke designs from noon onwards on the 25th and 27th at 12A Old Hatim Alvi Road, Old Clifton, the couture brand will also have Valliyan jewellery on display with their bridal collection in Karachi. Don’t forget to check it out.
