Kangana Ranaut has been making headlines for some time now, not just because of her extraordinary work but also because of her high profile and controversial legal dispute with A-list star Hrithik Roshan. Known for speaking her mind, Kangana represents the new-age female power in Bollywood.

While Ranaut has made statements like “I’m my own hero on the sets, why should I work with other heroes?” and is not gung-ho about working with the three Khans of Bollywood, actor Irrfan Khan has interesting things to say about the Queen actress, who refused to star opposite him in Divine Lovers.

“Kangana has gone so out of reach that I will work with her only if I wish to be a heroine,” Khan said (albeit sarcastically) in response to reports that suggest Ranaut rejected a film opposite him since she is only interested in solo leads. Khan was speaking to media at the screening of the Marathi blockbuster, Sairat, recently. “So, if a script comes along wherein she plays the hero and I, the heroine, I will do it,” he added.

When Ranaut found out what Khan had to say about her, she noted, “Irrfan always teases me. He had once told me two swords could never stay in the same sheath. I couldn’t understand it. But I would like to work with Irrfan sir regardless of whatever role is offered to me.”

Ranaut, soon to be seen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon is easily the only real rival to Deepika Padukone’s throne. After picking up three National Awards for her sharp performances seen across a wide range of films in recent years, it remains to be seen if Kangana will bag yet another gong with Rangoon. Watch out.
