The year 2016 looks good for Pakistani films; several diverse movies are expected to release, from love stories and comedies (Dobara Phir Se, Janaan, Lahore Se Aagey, etc.) to some action and war films like Yalghaar. Amongst the comedy flicks to hit theatres this year, Two + Two promises to offer something a little different.

Instep caught up with Bilal Ashraf, who was recently spotted in Karachi where he has been shooting for the film with co-star Urwa Hocane. We were curious to know why the film’s date of release kept shifting.  “Those who are part of the film are busy with other commitments too and this is the reason the film has been delaying,” he shared. “Some meetings with the sponsors also had to take place before we could move on, so we had to wait for that as well.” While he assured that the film is slated for a release this year, he’s still not sure about the release date. “We have shot around 60% of the film but I can’t tell you the exact date right now,” he added.

Starring Urwa Hocane, Bilal Ashraf, Saleem Mairaj, Ali Azmat, Babra Sharif and Mustafa Qureshi, Two + Two is a fast-paced comedy that will, in all likelihood (at least we hope so), tickle the funny bones. It revolves around the story of four individuals who are connected to each other by some way of fate. Ashraf plays the role of a doctor alongside the female lead Hocane who is essaying the role of a marketing person. It is a situational comedy and that is what makes it different from other comedies. “The comic element arises out of the situation –and not actual jokes – that is being created and the way these four characters react to it,” Ashraf concluded.
