Singer-songwriter Ali Zafar, who moonlights as an actor, almost always has his plate full. This year not only is Zafar appearing in a new Bollywood film by Gauri Shinde which includes Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan in its cast, but he is also getting back to his music roots. And it seems that pop star, who is either appearing in commercials or singing for them, is in terrific form these days.

Singer-songwriter Ali Zafar, who moonlights as an actor, almost always has his plate full. And it seems that pop star, who is either appearing in commercials or singing for them, is in terrific form these days.

Having played a show in Karachi recently at the Moin Khan Academy as part of the Cornetto Pop Rock concert series alongside an A-list playing bill that included the likes of Noori and Ali Azmat as well, Zafar showed off his musical side once more at the opening ceremony of the inaugural edition of the Quaid-i-Azam Inter-provincial Games 2016 in Islamabad.

According to a press statement, the crowd in attendance was close to 30,000 people as Zafar delighted them with a medley of his songs including hits like ‘Masti, ‘Aasman Ko Chootay Jayen Hum’ and ‘Chal Dil Meray’. The crowd erupted when Zafar sang his breakthrough number ‘Channo’.

The press statement revealed that “the crowd went beyond security’s control and thousands of fans started pushing each other forward to climb the stage” which prompted Ali to finish off his performance and dash offstage. Post-script, Zafar was heard saying that the episode “reminded him of a high jump and run scene he did for a film.”
