ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan has dismissed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aleem Khan’s plea to declare elections in NA-122 Lahore void.

However, the commission accepted the petition to give Aleem Khan access to the record of the votes.

Aleem Khan was given access to the record of the votes under Article 19A.

The ECP bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza Khan, announced the judgment reserved on January 19 in the case of transfer of votes in NA-122.

The judgment further says Aleem Khan can move to Election Tribunal against the verdict.

ECP reserved the right to take action against Aleem Khan for submitting fake affidavits of some voters, it added.

PTI leader Aleem Khan had filed petition in connection with shifting of votes from NA-122.

He had alleged that 30,000 votes were shifted from his constituency while Nadra had the record of only 7,000 votes. He said that the election was rigged and that the mandate of the public was stolen.

National Assembly speaker Ayaz Sadiq was re-elected from the NA-122 seat in the by-elections in October last year after being earlier de-seated by an election tribunal in August when it nullified his election in the 2013 general elections.
