Qaim calls Sindh apex committee meeting to discuss law and order

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Tuesday called for an apex committee meeting to discuss the deteriorating law and order situation of the city. 

The meeting is likely to discuss in-depth the murder of slain qawwal Amjad Sabri, the kidnapping of SHC Chief Justice's son Owais Ali Shah, the law and order situation of the city as well as other matters. 

The meeting, which has been called at four pm, will also focus on the implementation of the National Action Plan and decisions taken during the previous apex committee meetings. Important decisions are also likely to be taken in the meeting with regard to speeding up the Karachi operation, providing Rangers and police with the resources to conduct their operations and also police recruitment. 

The previous day, a Sindh cabinet meeting had also discussed the security situation in Karachi as well as Amjad Sabri's murder investigation and the kidnapping of barrister Owais Ali Shah. 

A meeting of the country's top military and civil leadership was also held during the last week at Karachi's Corps Headquarters in which ties between terrorists and their facilitators were also discussed. That meeting was attended by COAS General Raheel Sharif, DG ISI Gen. RIzwan Akhtar, CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and Governor Sindh Ishratul Ibad.
