NAB recovers Rs 630 million in raid at Balochistan Secretary Finance’s house

The NAB officials found 12 bags full of currency notes from Raisani’s house. The amount recovered was over Rs 630 million. Besides cash, jwellery and prize bonds worth millions of rupees were also found in the house of Raisani.

QUETTA: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recovered a cash  amount of more than Rs 630 million in a raid at the house of Balochistan Finance Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani here on Friday.

The NAB officials found 12 bags full of currency notes from Raisani’s house. The amount recovered was over Rs 630 million. Besides cash, jwellery and prize bonds worth millions of rupees were also found in the house of Raisani.

The NAB officials earlier in the morning arrested Mushtaq Raisani in a raid at his office and sealed the finance department after searching rooms and seizing records of the department for investigation.

The Balochistan Finance Secretary was shifted to the NAB headquarters.

This is the first high profile arrest made by the anti-corruption department in Balochistan after a string of arrests in Sindh.

Secretary Raisani was accused of embezzling billions of rupees from development funds, NAB sources said.

NAB officials claimed that Mushtaq Raisani was involved in corruption worth millions of rupees in local government funds.

Mushtaq Raisani has been holding the key secretarial post in Balochistan for several years.
