SHEIKHUPURA: The counter terrorism department (CTD) Punjab killed at least eight alleged terrorists in exchange of gunfire here at Sharaqpur Road early on Thursday.
Police said, on a tip-off, CTD carried out operation at Sharaqpur Road. On seeing the law enforcers, the terrorists opened fire on them. In retaliatory fire, eight terrorists were killed and four of their accomplices escaped.
Huge quantity of weapons including four Kalashnikovs, as many pistols and 6 kilograms of explosives were recovered from their possession, police official added.
Maps of sensitive locations were also recovered from terrorists’ possession, said police officials who added that the search for fleeing terrorists was ongoing in the area.
NDMA instructs departments to ensure availability of necessary manpower, machinery in vulnerable areas.
