Updated at: 1445 PST,  Thursday, October 07, 2010
NEW DELHI: The Pakistani flood-affected wrestler Azhar Hussain grabbed first medal for the country in Commonwealth Games, Geo News reported Thursday.

Azhar Hussain fought the final in Greeco-Roaman category of wrestling against Indian wrestler Rajindar Kumar; however, he lost to his Indian rival with 11 points and thus carried away with the silver medal.

Azhar’s family has a background of ‘pehalwani’. His family had to emigrate from his native Muzaffargarh village, after the flood had hit it.

It should be mentioned here that Azhar has earlier represented Pakistan in several countries including Canada, Sri Lanka, Iran and South Africa.
