KHAIRPUR: Some 297 polling stations have been declared sensitive, including those in Kot Digi Taluka, Nara Taluka, Kingri Taluka and some areas of Thari Mirwah, Gambat, Faiz Gunj and Sobhedero, the Election Commission sources here said.
In Khairpur, there are three National Assembly seats – NA-215, NA-216 and NA-217 and six Sindh Assembly seats – PS-29, 30, 31, 32, 33 and 34. There are eight Talukas and 1,105,885 voters, including 586,498 male and 519,385 female ones. There are about 138 candidates in the run but the main contest is likely between the PPPP and the PML-F candidates.
In NA-215 Khairpur, PML-F candidate Syed Javed Ali Shah Jillani will face PPPP candidate Nawab Khan Wasan. In NA-216, Pir Syed Fazal Shah Jillani of PPPP will contest against PML-F’s Syed Kazim Ali Shah and in NA-217 Pir Syed Sadruddin Shah Rashdi will face PPPP candidate Sajid Hussain Bhabhan.
In PS-29, Syed Qaim Ali Shah of PPPP will contest against Zafar Iqbal Bilal of PML-F, in PS-30 Pir Syed Sadruddin Shah of PML-F will face Pir Syed Bachal Shah Jillani of PPPP, in PS-31 Dr Muhammad Rafique of PML-F is facing PPPP’s Zahid Hussain Bhabhan, in PS-32 Pir Syed Sadruddin Shah of PML-F will contest against PPPP’s Manzoor Hussain Wasan, in PS-33 PPPP candidate Syed Piyar Ali Shah will face PML-F’s Pir Syed Fayaz Ali Shah and in PS-34 Imtiaz Shaikh of PML-F will face PPPP’s Naeem Ahmed Kharel. Meanwhile, MQM candidates have withdrawn in favour of PML-F candidates, and the PML-Q has not put up any candidate. All arrangements have been finalised in Khairpur for ensuring transparent, fair and free elections, sources in the Election Commission, Khairpur, said.
