Islamabad
Umeed-e-Noor will be hosting a day for special persons in line with the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities, says a press release issued here Wednesday.
This day will be celebrated to showcase the abilities of persons living with special needs. Hashoo Foundation’s Skills Development Programme launched a project, which recognises the abilities of special persons. This new project provides an opportunity for special persons to build their skills in housekeeping, embroidery, sewing and cutting and pottery. Students can enrol in any of these courses and work toward building a livelihood.
Hashoo Foundation is also conducting a survey in the Islamabad and Rawalpindi area to ascertain the nature and prevalence of disabilities in the twin cities. This study will support the development of Umeed-e-Noor in its further development of the centre’s services and facilities. Volunteers have informed local religious centres to reach out to families who may want to participate in this study and in the course.
