MNA comes down hard on NWFP govt
Saturday, November 28, 2009
Bureau report

PESHAWAR: MNA Khwaja Muhammad Khan Hoti Friday urged the electorate to hold accountable the leadership of those political parties that abandoned their manifestoes after coming to power.

Addressing a public meeting at Mian Killay in Mardan, the former federal minister criticised the provincial government for “hindering” development schemes. “Those who think I will bow to them are living in a fool’s paradise.”

“I am not among those who would suffer as they have raised voice against thieves and corrupt elements,” stated Khwaja Hoti, who recently launched a “movement against corruption”.

He said people were even facing certain problems in getting a connection of Sui gas for their houses and asked the district administration to serve the masses selflessly.

Khwaja Hoti criticised the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and asked the beneficiaries of the law to vacate their public offices. He said the provincial government had no interest in the resolution of the people’s problems and alleged that corruption was widespread in the government machinery.

He said the NWFP government had miserably failed in its electoral pledge of the restoration of peace. The provincial government, he added, had come into power with a motto that instead of Kalashnikov, it would give pen to the younger generation of the province but “instead they started killing Pakhtuns, promoted corruption and looted the masses.” The MNA, who recently deserted the ANP, demanded holding of mid-term elections.
