Rawalpindi: Philosopher poet of the East, Allama Muhammad Iqbal played a pioneering role in creating sense of nationhood among Muslims of South Asia through his inspiring poetry and also guided them to achieve independence.
The great national poet also persuaded Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to lead independence struggle for the Muslims.
This was stated by Anjuman Faiz-ul-Islam President Mian Siddique Akbar in his keynote address at the concluding ceremony of inter-school competition of speeches, national songs and quiz organised at its Mandra Campus on Thursday.
He said that it was need of the hour that the national leaders rise to occasion to unite the people into spirited nation in light of Iqbals vision and prepare it to the challenges of time.
A number of teams from various educational institutions including those functioning under the Anjuman Faiz-ul-Islam participated in the competition.
The students paid rich tributes to the national contribution of Allama Iqbal, presented a selection of his poetry in the form of group songs and displayed their knowledge of Iqbal in quiz competition.
The prizes and certificates were presented among the students who secured first, second and third positions in each category.
