Misunderstandings and differences among the coalition partners Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have surfaced after the list of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) beneficiaries was made public. Also MQM has strongly reacted over the statement given by the Federal Minister for Information, Qamaruz Zaman Kaira.
Political pundits feel that this is a million rupee question as to how the coalition will remain intact.
On the other hand, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Punjab has mounted its political pressure after the resignation of Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab, Saeed Mehdi, and demanded that other beneficiaries should follow suit.
However, these pundits say that the MQM is in a strong position as they do not have a single case of corruption against its workers or leader.
Meanwhile, MQM has strongly condemned the ban imposed on the programme of Dr Shahid Masood of GEO TV channel and said that it was unjustified action over the speech of freedom.
