 CM for transparency in uplift funds use

LAHORE

PUNJAB Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed authorities to ensure high standard of construction, transparent utilisation of funds and speedy completion of development projects in the province.

The CM was speaking at a high-level meeting held to review pace of implementation of water supply, education, health, and infrastructure development and other development projects.

The CM said that red-tape will not be allowed to hinder projects aimed at provision of basic amenities to the people. He ordered formation of a comprehensive system and presentation of a detailed briefing to him within three days regarding pace of implementation of mega projects.

The CM said the government was utilising all resources to provide basic amenities to the people and billions of rupees were being spent on various mega projects. He said that a comprehensive monitoring system should be evolved for timely completion of development projects in a transparent manner so that people could benefit from these projects at the earliest.

He said that concerned departments and officers should evolve a roadmap for speedy completion of development projects and traditional official formalities and red-tape should not be allowed to obstruct development projects. He said that he wanted speedy completion of all development projects in a transparent manner and departments concerned will have to play an effective role in this regard. He said that negligence would not be tolerated in execution of development projects and officers showing outstanding performance in the timely completion of development projects will be encouraged.

The CM directed that ratio of utilisation of funds on development projects should be reviewed on a weekly basis and development funds should be utilized in a realistic manner. He said the government was paying due attention on projects of provision of health, education and other facilities to the people and a number of projects were being implemented expeditiously. He also directed to review the pace of implementation of development projects in Bahawalpur Division, saying early completion of these projects should be ensured.

He issued direction to accelerate the pace of work on development projects, including Danish Schools, hospitals and flyovers in the division.
