 ‘NRO beneficiaries should quit offices’
Sunday, November 22, 2009
By Our Correspondent

LAHORE

SENIOR Political Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Pervez Malik has said beneficiaries of the NRO should quit official portfolios.

He said strong system of accountability would eradicate corruption from the country. He said no one of the leaders and workers of the PML-N took advantage of the NRO. He said Mian Nawaz Sharif and Mian Shahbaz Sharif keeping in view the philosophy of politics adopted by Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam were striving to strengthen democracy and economy in Pakistan.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, he said that the minus-one option with clear-cut stand taken by Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was buried forever. He said the PML-N would foil any attempt against the democracy. He said Mian Shahbaz Sharif visiting the NWFP, Balochistan and Sindh stressed the people to forge unity in their ranks.

Pervez Malik said the steps taken by the Punjab CM would help remove misperceptions of smaller provinces against Punjab. He said Punjab, being elder brother, always offered sacrifices for the rest of three provinces and this time too it would not disappoint them. He said the federation’s willingness to provide 60 percent of the national resources to provinces was commendable while the provinces’ prosperity and independence under the constitution would help strengthen the federation. He said the unification of opinion on NFC among the four provinces would end provincialism.
