Friday, November 20, 2009
Islamabad

The Ministry of Youth Affairs has received over 63,459 applications from across the country for the 3rd batch intake under National Internship Programme (NIP), as today (November 20) is the last date for submission of the applications.

NIP Director General Ashiq Hussain told APP that the last date for the submission of the applications for the youth from Malakand division was October 30 and around 3,235 applications have been verified from HEC for Malakand division.

He expressed the hope that within next 15 days Malakand youth would be given induction letters after having verifications from HEC and Nadra.

NIP has been designed to benefit young unemployed post-graduates and graduates from across the country, having completed 16 years of education from recognized universities or degree awarding institutions.

He said the management of the programme has received positive response from the youth and it reflects not only the success of the programme but also its popularity.

“In order to further scrutinise the candidates eligibility the authority has dispatched the applications to Higher Education Commission (HEC)” DG NIP added.

Describing the financial allocation for the programme insufficient, he said the NIP management requested for an amount of Rs3.7 billion for the programmes, however, the government has earmarked Rs1.6 billion.

He said the programme was aimed at providing financial relief to fresh graduates and to keep them engaged in acquiring additional knowledge and real life work experiences.
