BARA: The leaders of a militant outfit narrowly escaped bombing by jet fighters in the Bara sub-division of Khyber Agency on Wednesday.
Sources said the jet fighters were bombing the hideouts of militants in Kurram Agency when one of the aircraft bombed the militants’ position in Tirah area of Khyber Agency.
The sources said the leader of Ansarul Islam (AI), Qazi Mahboobul Haq, and his deputy chief Ezzatullah Hamkhayal were present at the hideout but both of them narrowly escaped the bombing.
Reacting to the incident, a spokesman for the banned outfit said they were peaceful and the government should avoid such action in the future. The spokesman, Dr Naeem, said the people of Tirah were loyal to the government and they should not be targeted in such a fashion.
