The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) women’s wing staged a ‘Go America Go’ rally here on Wednesday to denounce interference of the United States in internal affairs of Pakistan and drone attacks in tribal areas.
The rally, led by the JI women’s wing secretary general Dr Rukhsana Jabeen, was addressed by the party central ameer Syed Munawwar Hasan, who said the critical conditions and crisis being faced by the country is a charge-sheet against political and military leadership.
The JI women workers, female students and children who participated in the rally, were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans like “We disapprove US slavery”, “International terrorist America” and “Stop military operation in Waziristan and Balochistan”. They were also raising slogans against planned expansion of the US embassy in Islamabad and presence of Blackwater in Pakistan.
The JI women wing’s deputy secretary general Sakina Shahid, Punjab’s Nazima Humaira Tariq and Islamabad’s Nazima Zeba Khalid were also leading the rally which started from Masjid Shuhada and ended at Aabpara Chowk where it was addressed by Jamaat’s central leaders.
“The womenfolk have come out on roads to safeguard our Islamic identity and expose real enemies of the country and the nation,” the JI amir Syed Munawwar Hasan said.
He said the people of Pakistan have rejected the US policies but the leadership, who benefited from the NRO, was compromising national interests.
The JI amir said the frightened rulers, who had given up protesting against drone attacks, could not guarantee the country’s sovereignty and freedom.
“The US officials are now talking about extending military operation to North Waziristan, Islamabad is under occupation of Blackwater, while the rulers afraid of naming India for its involvement in tribal areas and Balochistan,” he said.
The JI leader said the political and military leadership talk about interference of a neighbouring country but could not name the country directly because America wants Pakistan to accept India as its friend.
He charged that India and America were also involved behind attack on GHQ in Rawalpindi. “I am not ready to believe that Taliban are so powerful to dare to attack GHQ,” he said.
Munawwar pointed out that the US and Britain after so much bloodshed in Afghanistan are now considering to hold talks with senior Taliban commanders while Pakistan was being pressurised to continue military operation.
He also strongly criticised the elements who have been trying to make amendments in the “Blasphemy Law”.
