Funds for Razzaqabad police training centre sought
Thursday, November 19, 2009
By our correspondent

Karachi

The Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Police Training Centre, Razzaqabad needs greater grant allocation so as to equip recruits with better training facilities, said DIG Training and Commandant of the institute, Din Muhammad Baloch.

Speaking at the second passing out parade of the Police Eaglets on Wednesday, Muhammad urged the provincial government to increase grants for police training centres in order to equip recruits with better training facilities.

“Currently, all possible training facilities are being provided to trainee policemen with the meagre resources that we have. However, we need more funds for erecting a boundary wall around the centre, a computerized firing range and a swimming pool” he said.

“keeping in view the recent terror attacks at the police training facilities in other parts of the country, a safe boundary wall around the Razzaqabad training centre had become immensely important to protect the lives of the under-training police personnel,” he maintained.

He said that the Razzaqabad training institute is one of the best police training institutes of the country where seasoned police officers train recruits in a professional manner.

Additional Inspector General (AIG), Police, Sindh, Wajid Ali Durrani attended the passing out ceremony as the chief guest. In his address, Durrani said that the recruits have been specially trained to counter cases pertaining to kidnapping for ransom,

sectarian violence and terrorist attacks including bomb blasts.

“The young men have also acquired training in sharp-shooting which would facilitate them to counter internal and external threats of terrorism and other heinous crimes,” he added.
