| Second A’almi Urdu Conference inaugurated |

The Second A’almi Urdu Conference (Urdu International Conference) was inaugurated on Tuesday where renowned Urdu critic, Gopu Chund Narang in his telephonic address appreciated the organising of such a conference, adding that Urdu was a language that proved to be a ‘bridge’ amongst the people, communities, societies and countries as well. He stated that he was very excited to participate in the Conference but couldn’t due to visa issues.
DCO Karachi and President of Arts Council, Javed Hanif who inaugurated the conference expressed his felicitation over holding such a great conference on the part of elected office bearers. Secretary Arts Council, Muhammad Ahmed Shah in his brief address said the Conference was aimed at promoting peace and peaceful values while discussing art and literature. He said the orgnanisation of this conference rejected terrorism and supported peaceful values in the country.
The Presidium consisted of Mushtaq Ahmed Yousufi, Lutfullah Khan, Dr Aslam Farrukhi, Hajira Masroor, Intizar Hussain and Dr Kulsoom Abul Bashar while Imbareen Haseeb Amber conducted the proceedings.
Professor Saher Ansari and Iftikhar Arif presented their papers on the movements of literature in India and Pakistan.
Later the participants attended a function titled ‘Jashn-e-Faiz; held in the premises of Arts Council, where, where Khalid presented verses of Faiz Ahmed Faiz.
