PPP women hold demo against Musharraf
Tuesday, November 17, 2009
Islamabad

Activists of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) women wing here on Monday demonstrated against the statement of former president General (R) Pervez Musharraf in which he had called President Asif Ali Zardari as a cheater.

Led by PPP Women Wing President and MPA Nargis Faiz Malik the female activists assembled at the National Press Club and chanted anti-Musharraf slogans.

The protesters were holding placards and banners inscribed with anti-Musharraf slogans. They urged Musharraf to avoid issuing such statements against democratic government.

Speaking on the occasion Nargis while condemning the statement of General Musharraf said that the former military dictator had no worth and was issuing baseless statements to grab media attention.

She said PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zaradri was elected president by meeting democratic standards. On the contrary Musharraf had grabbed power through a military coup, she added.

She asked the former military ruler to return home and face court trials for his wrongdoings and un-constitutional steps. She said Zardari is a patriotic person and had gone through prison for almost over a decade but the charges against him were not proved.

PPP woman lawmaker from Punjab Beelam Husnain said that anti-PPP forces were creating negative propaganda against Zardari to destabilise the PPP government. She urged the political leadership to avoid propaganda targeting the personal life of Asif Ali Zardari.
