CHAKWAL: Panic gripped Mureed village on Monday when two unidentified people tried to send a bag to the Government Girls High School through two children.
Two men near the school asked two children playing in front of the school to carry a suspicious bag into the school, but they refused to do so and informed the headmistress. In the meantime, the suspects managed to escape. Police have arrested two Pathans selling blankets in the village and started investigation.
Babar Saleem new press club chairman: Senior Journalist Khawaja Babar Saleem was elected Chakwal Press Club Chairman after his predecessor Fahim Akhtar Butt from the slot. All 14 members meeting was held, which was chaired by chairman Faheem Akhtar Butt and rendered his resignation. The house accepted his resignation and elected secretary-general press club Khawaja Babar Saleem as new press club chairman while vice-chairman Muhammad Khan Aqil was elected as secretary-general. Senior Journalist Arshad Mehmood Abbasi was elected as vice-president. Outgoing chairman Faheem Akhtar Butt thanked the members for their cooperation during his nine years tenure. The members paid rich tribute to him for his services for the promotion of the press club. All the 14 members Aamir Masood, Arshad Abbasi, Mirza Shakilur Rehman, Professor Yasin Saddique, Tariq Murtaza Hashmi, Tahir Farooqi, Arif Mehmood, Khawaja Danial Saleem, Zulfiqar Mir, Asif Farooqi, Khawaja Babar Saleem, Muhammad Khan Aqil, Fakhar Mehmood Mirza and Faheem Akhtar Butt attended the meeting.
PPP demonstrate against Musharraf: The PPP activists on Monday demonstrated against former president Pervez Musharraf and demanded his trail under the Article 6.
The PPP activists led by MPA Fauzia Behram shouted slogans against Musharraf and burnt his effigy. Speaking on the occasion, MPA Fauzia Behram said that Musharraf was constitutionally bound not to speak on political matters but he allegedly gave remarks against President Asif Zardari which were baseless. PPP Tehsil Choa Saidan Shah president Raja Naveed Akhtar, Tehsil Kalar Kahar president Malik Imtiaz Hussain, PYO district president Malik Abdul Qayyum Miani, Malik Ishtiaq Hussain, Malik Fida Hussain, Asif Iqbal and others were also present. Later, talking to journalists, Fauzia Behram alleged that some PML-N leaders were also criticising President Asif Ali Zardari which was not a good sign for the country. She hoped that the PPP government would complete its five years tenure.
