The Awami Colony police have registered a murder case against an alleged drug-peddler, Baba Ballakh Sher, for killing a middle aged woman, also an alleged drug-peddler, whose body was recovered from her house on Monday.

The two-day old body of Ameena, 45, wife of Muhammad Iqbal, was recovered from her residence when her daughter with the help of some neighbours broke the lock of her mother’s residence and found her dead with a bullet mark in her head.

The deceased’s daughter Samina, told the police that her mother used to sell heroin and some other drugs to earn her livelihood after the death of her husband as she had nobody else to support her.

“Last Friday my mother came to visit me and said that Sher, another drug peddler, had threatened to kill her as she was causing him loss in his business by selling drugs in the area where he operates,” Samina told the police.

The Awami Colony police official, Sub-Inspector Noroz Badshah, told The News that they were informed of the killing by the victim’s daughter.

“According to Ameena’s daughter, her mother lived alone and used to sell heroin to earn her livelihood,” SI Noroz Badshah said.

Sources in the medico-legal section of JPMC said that the deceased sustained a single fatal bullet in her head which went through her skull and she died on the spot.

The Awami Colony police have registered a case 559/09 under section 302 against Sher on the complaint of Samina. However, the accused could not be arrested.
