Sindh ranking tennis event begins today
Friday, November 13, 2009
KARACHI: The 19th edition of the STA Talent Hunt Sindh Ranking Tennis Championship begins today (Friday) at the hard courts of the City Sports Complex.

STA is organising this week-long tournament in collaboration with CDGK Community Development Department and Pakistan Schools Sports Association.

“We have received a total of 130 entries and we expect it to be a successful event. These kinds of events help us in promoting the game of tennis among the youth,” Secretary Sindh Tennis Association Khalid Rehmani told PPI.

He added that they have introduced an U13 doubles event for the first and hope that the players would try to pick the team-game of tennis early in their lives and flourish in doubles event also.

Syed Abbas Raza is expected to lift the men’s singles event while his younger brother Syed Zuhair Raza is expected to meet him in the final. Mustafa Zaidi is the top seed in the U17 singles event. Omer Shahid is the second seed in the event. In boys U15 singles event Nameer Shamsi is the top seed while Talha Zubair has been seeded second.

Saud Shoaib is favourite for boys U13 singles event and Sanwal Memon is the other top contender for the title. In boys and girls U11 singles, Maheen Dada and Asim Allawala have been seeded first.
