ISLAMABAD: The spokesperson for the CDA, while clarifying the news item captioned ‘PPP senator tells PM to back off, and he does”, published in The News of November 10, 2009, has said that the contents of the news item are incorrect, misleading and not based on facts.
He said that the prime minister was never invited to inaugurate “Forestry Park” and it was to be inaugurated by Sardar Assef Ahmed Ali, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission. He reiterated that the CDA neither requested the prime minister for the inauguration of this park nor he declined any request in this regard. He said that the contents of news items were not based on facts.
Rauf Klasra adds: I am at a loss to understand who is telling the truth, the deputy chairman of the Planning Commission, Sardar Assef Ahmed Ali, who enjoys the status of a federal minister, or a low-ranking CDA official, who is contradicting him for some unknown reasons. Obviously, I will go by what Sardar Assef has said. Sardar Assef has confirmed that PM Gilani was set to inaugurate the park but he had to cancel his plans after the PPP senator told him to stay away from this “mess” as the 350 acres of land belonged to him.
I wonder why the CDA is denying only one part of the news item that PM Gilani was not invited to inaugurate the park. What about the fact that a PPP senator has laid a claim over 350 acres of land? Why this silence over grabbing of official land worth billions of rupees? Would some one enlighten us on who owns the land -- the CDA or the powerful PPP senator?
