Iqbal’s thoughts based on Quran: Iranian envoy
Monday, November 09, 2009
Islamabad

Ambassador of Iran, Masha’allah Shakeri, has greeted the Pakistani people on the birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the poet and thinker who represents cultural and friendly cooperation between the two brotherly nations and also the entire Islamic world.

In a message on the Iqbal Day, the ambassador said Allama Iqbal enjoys great respect and popularity among people of both countries and his poetry has had immense influence on the thoughts of the thinkers of these two countries.

Allama Iqbal’s vision and thoughts were instrumental in awakening the Muslims from deep slumber and invited them towards friendship and unity with each other, he said. “As a result of the thinking and ideas of Allama Iqbal and the sustained efforts of Quaid Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Islamic country of Pakistan came into existence,” he said.

Iqbal based his thoughts on the Holy Quran and promoted humanity in his interpretations. He awakened the Muslim from disillusionment and reminded them about their future.

In fact, Allama Iqbal gave courage to the Muslims of the present era, and called upon the Muslims to pursue the knowledge in accordance with the Islamic culture, he said.

He termed Allama Iqbal as the most versified with philosophical thoughts in Persian language.

The ambassador read out the message of Ayatollah Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran, which he stated in the International Congress on Allama Iqbal convened in Tehran. “The message of Iqbal was effective in organizing the Islamic revolution in Iran, and this country put into effect the thoughts about the ideas of Iqbal prior to other countries dominated by the West.”

The birth anniversary of this great poet of the Islamic world is an apt opportunity for the world Muslims to realise the great poet’s ideals and thoughts, which are the glory and grandeur of the Islamic world.
