Col (r) Jafiri (Nov 2) has rightly asked the religious authorities about the definition of shaheed. The writer has rightly said that those who sacrifice their lives for a noble cause are indeed shaheed. I think the supreme religious body in Pakistan, if one exists at all, should, in consultation with various religious groups of Pakistan, come up with an exact definition of the word keeping in view the prevailing confusion about jihad in the Muslim world.
