ANP asks president to resolve Kurram crisis
Sunday, November 08, 2009
By our correspondent

ISLAMABAD: The Awami National Party (ANP) legislators during their meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday sought his intervention to defuse the long-standing humanitarian crisis in Kurram Agency.

Senator Abdul Nabi Bangash drew the president’s

attention towards the tense

situation in the agency, particularly gripping Parachinar

and some of its adjoining areas for almost two years.

The lawmaker explained how serious the situation had become, as stocks of food and medicines had almost exhausted.

“Even life-saving drugs are not available there,” he said.

“Senator Bangash raised the issue during the meeting at the President House and expressed concern over the continuous blockade of the main road leading towards the Kurram Agency,” said ANP Senior Vice-President Senator Haji Muhammad Adeel, when The News contacted him.

ANP President Senator Asfandyar Wali called for more measures to improve law and order and security situation, particularly in Darra Adamkhel and some other areas, infested with militants.
