LAHORE

SENIOR Political Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab and former MNA Mohammad Pervez Malik has said that the country, by not presenting NRO in the parliament, has been saved from major disaster.

He said the policy statement of the Prime Minister with regard to withdrawal of NRO was appreciable and it was hoped that the PPP leadership would abide by this decision.

He said that with the returning of the constitutional powers to parliament the political stability would usher in the country and in this regard President Asif Ali Zardari should fulfill his promise. He said that the PML-N would continue raising a voice for trial against Pervez Musharraf.

He further said that the 17th amendment should be abolished for removing the misunderstanding among the democratic forces. He said that every extra-constitutional step of Pervez Musharraf era was the root cause of the national crises. He said that President Asif Ali Zardari at present needed sincere advisors and if he cool-mindedly took a far-reaching decision, the country could be saved from further political and economical instability.

Pervez Malik said that the weak economy of the country could not bear the loss due to two weekly holidays while in case of ill-conceived decisions of the government the industrial institutions would badly suffer besides causing decrease in income of labor class.

He said the federal government should take steps for controlling power crisis and restoration of the national economy.
