| Govt to give Balochistan provincial autonomy: Gailo |

QUETTA: The federal government has agreed to give provincial autonomy to Balochistan, besides giving control on natural resources to the provincial government, said Balochistan Finance Minister Mir Asim Kurd Gailo.
Talking to APP at the Quetta Airport on Friday after returning from Islamabad after meeting President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, he said all the important issues regarding provincial autonomy to Balochistan and shifting control on natural resources of the province to the provincial government were discussed.
He stated the federal government was working on an agenda to ensure implementation of provincial autonomy under the Constitution. The minister said the federal government and other stakeholders had accepted Balochistan’s stance on the National Finance Commission Award, which was that natural resources should be distributed under the formula of population, backwardness, area and poverty of a province and not only on population basis. He expressed the hope the province would get a lot under upcoming Constitutional package for Balochistan, which would be announced soon.
