Suspicion and reality— conspiracy against Iran
Thursday, November 05, 2009
By Afshain Afzal

Tehran is right to blame Britain and United States for the terrorist bombing that killed five senior Iranian Guards commanders and 37 others. There is also no doubt that certain outlaws living in makeshift camps between Pakistan’s Balochistan province and Afghanistan were the men used by these countries. Proper investigations could only lead to the fact whether the attackers were Pakistani Balochs or Iranian Fararees (escapees). One thing missing in Iranian intelligence reports or the statements issued by Iranian government, is the role of India and Israel in the attacks. Iranian Ittalat is well aware of the fact that there are over one lakh registered Afghan refugees living in India. In the guise of Afghan refugees some Balochs, posing to be hailing from Pak-Afghanistan areas have taken up permanent residences in various Indian cities, predominantly at New Delhi. A good number of Iranian Fararees are also living in India, posing themselves as Iranian Bahais.

Iranian president’s speculations that those behind Sunday’s bombing are hiding across the border in Pakistan are not without warrant as there might be a possibility of the same. But it is important to appreciate that when there exists close relationship between Iran and Pakistan, why would Pakistan do so at such a critical juncture when things itself are not normal in Balochistan province while a sort of war is in progress in Frontier province. Those who matter in opinion building in Iran must have taken account of the ground reality that in this hour of need Pakistan would be requiring Iranian assistance and cooperation. Few years back I visited a number of places in Balochistan including the Chagai and Kharan districts. I also visited the border with Iran and Afghanistan and got the first hand knowledge about the narcotic and arms smuggling route from Central Asia to Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran for onward smuggling to various countries in the Middle East and Europe. In the whole process, the Iranian Frarees, Pak Balochs, Afghans, the Central Asians and Indians have their independent roles. The role of Indian Consulate in Zahidan in these underground activities deserves special mention as they are serving the purpose of Britain, United States and Israel to internally weaken Iran. The growing Indo-US and Indo-Israel relations are no more secret ventures. Confidential reports regarding short-term objectives against Iran and other countries of the world, which pose threat to US and India, have been intentionally leaked by CIA to pressure adversaries to create new blocks.

Some statement issued by the Iranian government, for the first time, publicly accused Pakistani intelligence service of supporting the Sunni rebel group known as ‘Jundaollah’, or Soldiers of God. On the face of ongoing situation, one cannot reject these statements as possibly Tehran has issued these statements after getting some proof from third countries. As per some published Iranian reports, Jundollah emerged in 2002 in Iran’s remote and mountainous southeast. It is involved in low-level insurgency in Sistan Balochistan to protest against alleged government persecution of the Balochi ethnic minority. Since Balochs living in Iran follows the Sunni faith and are a minority in predominantly Shia Iran, many Iranian look towards them with suspicion. However, as far as held information, ‘Jundollah’ is a small group which has neither potential nor agenda to inflict more than small attacks on security forces in Pakistan and Iran, in order to pave way for smooth flow of their consignments. We must not link the illegal activities of certain outlaws with grand designs as being labeled on the credit of ‘Jundollah.’ I would like to share on ground reality that the western and non-Muslim countries are on the lookout of opportunity to divide the Muslim World as they did in the past on the turn of last century. While carrying out analysis, we should bear this thing in mind that the western powers are not leaving any opportunity to stage such an atmosphere that Iran is isolated so that Tehran cannot proceed further with its nuclear and missile programmes.

If we recall, Iran test-fired Shahab 3, a surface-to-surface missile with a range of up to 2,000 km on September 28, which had the capability to reach any regional target. The missile drills of the Revolutionary Guards coincided with crucial talks between Tehran and representatives of six major powers on Iran’s nuclear ambitions. General Hossein Salami, Commander of the Guards’ Air Force announced ‘’all targets within the region, no matter where they are, will be within the range of these missiles.’’ Although, Iran denied link between the missile firing and the nuclear activities but US took it as insult and speculated that regional target which Iran threatened to attack was India where US and Israel are investing and increasing their presence. In fact, US suspects that the acceleration in the activities of Mujahideen against US in Iraq and Afghanistan are backed by Iran. The US believes that groups of Jihadi volunteers from Iran and other countries have started moving to Afghanistan and Iraq to join Jihads against the US and allies. The US claims that Mujahideen are using clandestine routes through Iran to attack its interests. Today, Israel and US have access to all sort of secret reports of Indian undercover RAW diplomats in various countries against Iran. India has also given access to US and Israel to the Indian Home Ministry’s Central Intelligence Processing Unit (CIPU) in New Delhi.

These countries have also stationed their troops and have full access to India’s to secret intelligence data. The western powers fear that their own survival would be on stake if Iran acquires more power. They are also perturbed over possible alliance between Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan and Central Asian Republic states. To neutralize, this unholy alliance against adversaries turning into reality, US and Israel have come in open to include India to their side. Iran’s suspicion against the Muslim countries at this critical juncture has its grounds but Tehran must understand that it is a conspiracy of the West against Muslims, otherwise general public and governments in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Central Asian Republic states consider Iran as their brother and can never be part of such a nefarious conspiracy.
