A vigilance team of the Sindh Wildlife Department (SWD) has recovered two precious falcons after a raid they conducted on a shop in Empress Market, Saddar on Wednesday. The price of each falcon in the local market is Rs0.4 million.
The SWD officials told The News that the vigilance team, formed by the provincial wildlife conservator, after receiving information raided the shop, where from they recovered two falcons while the shop owner fled.
SWD vigilance team head, Game warden Rashid A Khan said traders bring falcons from Dera Ismail Khan and other parts of NWFP and sell the birds to Sheikhs of Gulf States, who use the bird for entertaining, poaching small birds and animals from the wild. The officials have lodged FIR against an unknown shop owner.
