Feryal Gauhar's two-part article "An open letter to Hillary Clinton" published on Nov 2 and 3 was very emotional and touching. But I failed to understand why it was addressed to Hillary Clinton. If our leaders are corrupt, callous and inept and still they are elected by the people then we should learn to take responsibility for the miserable condition of our country.
I believe that the mother of all problems is Pakistan's huge population. It is obvious that millions of young men see a bleak future and no ray of hope. The Taliban provide them with a clear mission. They provide food and shelter and give them a political agenda. As for Ms Gauhar's desire to empower women, we are all with her. But the assumption that women in politics will promote peace and not war is illogical. If Hillary Clinton was president of the United States she would be doing what President Obama has been doing. Gender doesn't matter in state affairs.
