‘LAHORE
Senior Minister Punjab Raja Riaz Ahmed said that the PPP had decided not to present NRO in the National Assembly, as other political parties had also reservations over it. However, he said a list of NRO beneficiaries would be released soon.
The minister stated this while speaking on a point of order in the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday.
Raja Riaz said that the PPP was a democratic party and in favour of continuing democratic process, adding President Asif Ali Zardari was a brave person who remained nine years in jails and NRO would not affect him. He said that the PPP was a party of the masses and had deep roots in public. He added that it was our brave leader who laid down her life for the sake of democracy.
‘No change in formula to expand Punjab cabinet’: Senior Minister Punjab Raja Riaz Ahmed has said no change has been made in the formula agreed upon and the Punjab cabinet will be expanded in the light of the same formula.
He was talking to media at a reception hosted to Federal Minister for Production, Mian Manzoor Ahamd Wattoo, at his residence here on Tuesday.
Members Provincial Assembly Makhdoom Irtaza, Asif Bhagat, Raees Ibrahim, Shaukat Basra, Nausher Langrial, Col (r) Shabbir Awan, Rai Shahjahan Bhatti, Mian Muhammad Aslam, Dr. Akhtar Ali Malik, former Minister Malik Mushtaq Awan and Ahmad Shujja Wattoo were also present.
Talking to the media persons, the senior minister said that the promotion of politics of conciliation was the prime need of the hour.
He said that President Asif Ali Zardari’s policy to take all parties into confidence was in the vital interest of democracy and the country. He said that November 3, 2007 was of great significance for Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Muslim League (N) as they had made great efforts to end the dictatorship and restore democracy in the country. He said that all democratic forces should play their role for the promotion of democracy in the country.
The minister expressed hope that the PPP and the PML-N would continue to make joint efforts to safeguard the interests of the country.
